Russian syrup manufacturer wants to acquire rights to the Aperol brand

The Vkusnaya Zhizn company, which produces syrups, asked to remove protection from the Aperol and Aperol Spritz trademarks. The corresponding lawsuit against the structure of the Italian company Davide Campari – Milano (DCM), which owns these brands, she filed a lawsuit on intellectual property rights. The first hearing in this case is scheduled for June 19. Inquiries to the plaintiff and defendant remained unanswered.
In addition to Aperol, DCM produces Campari, Grand Marnier liqueur, Cinzano vermouths, Mondoro sparkling wine and so on. At the end of 2022, the company’s revenue increased by 24.2% to 2.6 billion euros, net profit – by 26% to 387.8 million euros. Aperol accounts for 21.6% of revenue, according to the company’s financial statements.
