Russian restaurateurs complained about a significant increase in prices for chicken and pork

The increase in prices for chicken and pork from suppliers of Russian restaurants from the beginning of March to the end of July amounted to 20-30%, said Sergei Mironov, Ombudsman for the restaurant market in Moscow. Restaurateurs also complained about problems with the supply of chickens from the Belgorod region and the Stavropol Territory. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) meanwhile decided check the prices of the three largest poultry meat producers.

“On March 8, a chicken breast fillet cost 280 rubles, and on July 26 it was already 355 rubles. per kg. And now it has grown even more due to a jump in the exchange rate … A kilogram of pork carbonate in March was 280 rubles, and at the end of July it became already 365 rubles, pork tenderloin rose from 335 rubles. up to 375 rubles”,— told “RIA Novosti” Mr. Mironov, noting that restaurateurs have always believed that there are enough poultry farms in Russia, and were not ready for such a development of events. According to the results of July, the increase in prices for chicken meat was 20%, for pork – 30%.

Concern about rising prices for chicken was expressed in fast food restaurants KFC and Rostic`s. The chef of the Matryoshka restaurant, Vlad Piskunov, said that lately grain-fed chickens have risen in price by 50%.

FAS, meanwhile, sent inquiries to the three largest poultry meat producers to check their wholesale selling prices, and orders were issued to two poultry meat producers based on the results of transactions in the market. The agency did not name the manufacturers.

According to Rosstat, prices for chicken meat increased from the beginning of the year to July by 11.5%, in July – by 6.99%, to 197.85 rubles. per kg. From August 8 to August 14, prices for chicken meat in 72 subjects increased by 0.1–5.8%, pork prices in 69 subjects increased by 0.1–6.6%.

The Ministry of Agriculture attributed the rise in prices to the seasonal factor. In late August – early September, a decrease in the cost of meat is expected, Head of the Ministry of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev told reporters earlier.
