Russian Railways showed the design of trains that they plan to launch on high-speed lines. The company’s press service provided sketches TASS.

High-speed trains will be in black and silver. In addition, their front end is sharper and more streamlined than that of standard trains.

Such trains are planned to be launched on the main line between Moscow and St. Petersburg. As the Russian Railways press service clarified, they will accelerate to 400 km/h. Travel time between cities will be approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin via video link gave a start construction of the high-speed railway Moscow-St. Petersburg. The cost of construction of the main St. Petersburg-Zelenograd section was estimated by the Ministry of Transport at 1.7 trillion rubles. Russian Railways plans to spend another 200 billion rubles to connect the line with Moscow. Construction of the highway is planned to be completed by 2027.

Earlier, Kommersant wrote that, according to Russian Railways reports, the number of trains suspended in 2023 more than doubled. The problem was confirmed by the company itself.
