Russian Railways increased transportation of ferrous metals by 4.4% in nine months – Kommersant

Transportation of ferrous metals through the Russian Railways (RZD) network from the beginning of January to the end of September of this year increased to 67.5 million tons or by 4.4% relative to the same period in 2022. This is stated in the materials of Russian Railways, excerpts from which are cited by Interfax.
Domestic transportation of ferrous metals in the nine months of 2023 amounted to 44.7 million tons. Compared to January-September last year, the figure increased by 11.4%. International transportation, on the contrary, decreased by 7.1%, to 22.8 million tons, including transportation through ports (-15.1%, to 13.9 million tons). Transportation through border crossings increased by 9.3%, to 8.87 million tons.

- NLMK (MOEX: NLMK): shipment within Russia – 3.7 million tons (+117.9% compared to January–September 2022); export – 5.8 million tons (+92%); total – 9.5 million tons (+100.5%);
- MMK (MOEX:MAGN): shipments across Russia – 6.7 million tons (+125.4%); export – 1.6 million tons (94.5%); total – 8.3 million tons (+118%);
- Severstal (MOEX: CHMF): shipments across Russia – 4.9 million tons (+112.4%); export – 649.8 thousand tons (+40%); total – 5.5 million tons (+92.7%);
- Evraz ZSMK: shipments across Russia – 1.7 million tons (+103%); exports – 2.2 million tons (+77.1%); total – 3.9 million tons (+86.6%);
- Evraz NTMK: shipments across Russia – 1.7 million tons (+101.9%); export – 1.5 million tons (+93%); total – 3.2 million tons (+97.6%);
- OEMK (Metalloinvest): shipments across Russia – 863.5 thousand tons (+141%); export – 1.6 million tons (+86.3%); total – 2.4 million tons (+100%);
- Ural Steel (ZTZ): shipments across Russia – 1.04 million tons (+98.2%); export – 1.1 million tons (+141%); total – 2.1 million tons (+116.7%);
- ChMK (Mechel): shipments across Russia – 1.6 million tons (+94.4%); export – 414.4 thousand tons (+108.6%); total – 2 million tons (+96.9%);
- VSW (OMK): shipments across Russia – 1.5 million tons (+92.4%); export – 94.1 thousand tons (+76.1%); total – 1.6 million tons (+91.3%);
- Tulachermet (PMH): shipments across Russia – 921.9 thousand tons (+110%); export – 517.5 thousand tons (+108.5%); total – 1.4 million tons (+109.5%).
Imports of ferrous metals by rail to Russia in January-September increased by 28.9% and amounted to 2.8 million tons, while exports decreased by 10.3% to 18.9 million tons.
