Russian Railways extended a discount for the transportation of cars in the Russian Federation to Nakhodka and Ussuriysk

Russian Railways updated part of the tariffs “to attract additional volumes of cargo to the railway.” In particular, the 33.75% discount introduced for the transportation of passenger cars across the Russian Federation in specialized wagons from the Far East was extended to shipments from Nakhodka and Ussuriysk stations.
In addition, a 21.4% discount was set for transportation in refrigerated containers along the route Selyatino (Moscow region) – Sergeli (Uzbekistan) through the Kanisai border station, in the opposite direction – through the Ozinki station. Also, by the end of the year, a 50% discount will be provided for the transportation of waste paper in covered wagons from the stations of the Krasnoyarsk, East Siberian and Trans-Baikal railways to the Ussuriysk station.
Since 2013 Russian Railways have the right to provide discounts to the freight rate within the corridor. The upper limit of the discount is 50%. At the end of February 2023, Russian Railways expanded the list of stations in the Far East for a 33.75% discount on the transportation of cars in specialized wagons.
In 2022 in the Russian Federation via Vladivostok was imported almost 200 thousand used cars from Asian countries, which exceeded sales of new Ladas in the domestic market. According to the customs service of Vladivostok, in the first half of 2023, Russians increased imports of Japanese cars, compared with last year, up to 130 thousand units. Almost all of them are with mileage. Against this background, Japan is going to ban the supply of models to Russia with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters.
