A Russian passenger plane of Nordwind Airlines, flying from Moscow to Varadero (Cuba), was allowed to return to Russia through Norwegian airspace. The TV channel reported this NRK with reference to the head of public relations of the Norwegian state-owned company Avinor, Katrin Framholt.
The permit was issued in connection with a “medical emergency” on board, said Katrin Framholt. We are talking about a Boeing 777, the TV channel clarified. The plane is already returning to Moscow. No other details are provided.
Norway, like the EU countries, decided to close its airspace to Russian aircraft at the end of February 2022. The decision was made after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine. Russia introduced retaliatory measures by closing its airspace to 36 countries.
