Russian LNG supplies to France increased by 41% in the first nine months of 2023

In the first nine months of 2023, Russia supplied 41% more liquefied natural gas (LNG) to France than in the same period in 2022, said Artem Studennikov, director of the first European department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He recalled that in 2022, the Russian Federation became the second gas supplier to France after the United States due to the import of LNG.
The main receiving point for Russian LNG was the terminal in Montoir-de-Bretagne, said Mr. Studennikov “RIA News”. In 2022, the terminal received 1.68 billion cubic meters, in the first half of 2023 – 0.89 billion cubic meters.
According to the statistical service of the European Union, France took second place in the EU in LNG supplies from Russia, it received gas worth €1.5 billion. Only Spain imported more LNG – €1.8 billion. Belgium spent € on the purchase of Russian liquefied natural gas 1.36 billion
January exports of Russian LNG fell slightly short of the record set in December and amounted to 2.9 million tons versus 3.17 million tons a month earlier. Most of the cargo from the Russian Federation in January went to Japan, Spain and France.
