The Ministry of Economy proposes to zero out the value added tax (VAT) on a number of related services in Russian hotels. In particular, according to the department’s proposal, zero VAT is proposed to be applied to Internet access, spa services, and the use of parking.
According to information TASS, The Ministry of Economy has already developed a corresponding draft government resolution. The document states that, in addition to the above-mentioned services, it is also proposed to abolish value added tax on the use of gyms, children’s playrooms and conference rooms located on hotel premises. It is noted that we are talking about those additional services that are included in the single price of a hotel room.
As Maxim Reshetnikov’s department emphasized, the implementation of the proposal will increase the profitability of hotel projects. They also believe that zeroing out VAT on a number of hotel services will help reduce business costs for hoteliers and thereby avoid a possible increase in prices for accommodation for guests.
