Russian and Turkish stars met on the set of a new series

The picturesque surroundings of Kislovodsk recently became the backdrop for the filming of a new historical series. At the epicenter of the filming bustle were men in the uniform of the Russian army from the end of the last century. It is this era that the project is dedicated to, in which historical events, by tradition, will become the background for melodrama.

The main roles in the series are played by Sofya Priss (“Ask the Nurse”, “Open Up, Police”) and Denis Nurulin (“Eterna. Part One”, “According to the Laws of Martial Time. Mutiny”). According to the plot, Denis’s hero, a major in the Russian army, disappears on the Balkan front during the Russian-Turkish war. His young wife (Sofia Priss) does not believe in her husband’s death and goes in search of him.

Thanks to the imagination of the writers, the main characters will not have to sit still, as well as the film crew. The Balkan part of the plot will be filmed in Russia, namely in the vicinity of Kislovodsk and Pyatigorsk, but for the Turkish flavor they will go where it comes from. At the beginning of next year, the film crew will travel first to Istanbul, then to the Turkish village of Adatepe.

In Turkey, the creators of the series found not only suitable locations, but also actors well known to fans of exotic television production. The project involves Aysun Güven, known from the Turkish TV series “My Second Mother,” and those who watched the big TV hit “My Left Half” will certainly recognize the performer of one of the main roles, Tolga Mendi.

Apparently, Turkey continues to inspire local TV series producers both as a location and as a country, whose entertainment projects have had consistent success in Russia. The series “East-West (2016) and “Sultan of My Heart” (2018) became high-profile Russian-Turkish projects that marked the fashion for oriental flavor. A little later, the Janissary appeared. This is a Russian series, but filmed entirely in Turkey, using not only the capabilities of a huge film city built near Istanbul, but also local actors.

It must be admitted that even in isolation from the Russian serial industry, Turkish television projects have taken root well on local airwaves. “Knock on My Door” was so popular at one time that work is currently underway on its Russian version. Probably against the backdrop of adaptations of big international hits like “Motherland” or the TV series “Your Honor”, ​​the fashionable Turkish course may seem somewhat provincial. However, Turkey’s not the most significant role in the world film industry does not bother those who love oriental passions.

In the case of the new series about a Russian officer and his wife, forced to wander around Turkey, fleeing from many enemies, the oriental accent is only one of the colors, but it is important for the plot. Filming of the series will be completed next year in St. Petersburg. In addition to Sofia Priss and Denis Nurulin, Maria Poroshina, Alexander Baluev, Dmitry Ulyanov and others are participating in the project.
