The issue of using digital currencies in trade between Iran and Russia is being considered by the parties, Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexei Dedov said. He noted that “the process of reaching any specific agreements is still in the working stage.”
“Issues of using digital currencies and digital financial assets in settlements for export-import transactions are being considered by both Russia and Iran,” said Mr. Dedov “RIA News”. He called the issue of settlements in digital currencies difficult, as it requires expert study.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov after the visit of parliamentarians to Iran told on the study by Moscow of the issue of issuing stablecoins backed by gold refineries. In his opinion, these assets can be used for settlements with other countries, for example, with Iran. Executive Director of the Russian Association of the Cryptoindustry and Blockchain Alexander Brazhnikov in mid-January told Vedomosti that the Central Bank of Iran is discussing with Russia the possibility of creating a token of the Persian region to replace the dollar, ruble and Iranian rial in mutual settlements.
