The head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Dmitry Yadrov, during a working visit to Sheremetyevo Airport today, January 2, said that the airlines have exceeded the transportation plan for 2023. Compared to 2022, the growth of domestic traffic was 6.6%. That year, Russian airlines carried 95.2 million passengers.
During a conversation with reporters, Mr. Yadrov noted that the transportation plan for 2023 was at the level of 103 million passengers. “We have provided more than 103 million,” he said (quoted by TASS). Final data for 2023, he said, will be presented within a month.
Sheremetyevo Deputy General Director for Security Konstantin Popov said that the Moscow airport has adopted and is testing systems for detecting and suppressing drones. Mr. Yadrov clarified that Sheremetyevo is implementing a test project “not at the expense of the federal budget, but at the expense of internal funds.”
In general, according to Mr. Yadrov, approximately 60 airports in the Russian Federation are interested in drone suppression systems. “By 2030, it is planned to equip 31 airfields with drone detection and suppression systems within the framework of the federal budget. In addition, we see interest at 30 airfields in implementing this project using funds from extra-budgetary sources,” he explained.
