In June, Russia will open a second air corridor to the south, reported RBC sources in two Russian airlines. Its use will reduce flight times.
According to one source, the corridor will start working from June 12, airlines have already received relevant information. Another RBC source said that the pilots received notification of changes in the airspace in the south.
On August 30, 2022, a part of the closed air corridor in the south of the country, 10 km wide, was opened to Russian airlines. It can only be used by air carriers that operate flights from Moscow to Sochi and airports in Turkey (and vice versa). The remaining flights above this limit fly through the airspace of Kazakhstan.
Airports in the south and central part of Russia have been closed since the start of the special military operation. We are talking about the airports of Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista. Sochi Airport continues to operate, but after the introduction of restrictions, the flight time from Moscow has increased from two to four hours.
