Russia remains the largest supplier of oil to China for the third month

In July, Russian oil imports to China amounted to 7.15 million tons. This is 7.6% more than a year earlier, reports Reuters with reference to the data of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China. Russia remains the largest oil supplier to China for the third month in a row.
The daily figure for Russian deliveries – about 1.68 million barrels – was below the record May indicator, amounting to about 2 million barrels per day (b / d). Second place in terms of deliveries to China was taken by Saudi Arabia – 6.56 million tons, or 1.54 million bpd.
In total, since the beginning of the year, oil imports to China from Russia amounted to 48.45 million tons, which is 4.4% more than in 2021. Saudi Arabia delivered 49.84 million tons of oil to China, which is 1% lower than last year.
Due to the large volumes of Russian supplies, oil imports from Angola and Brazil fell year on year by 27% and 58%, respectively. Imports from Malaysia increased by 183% to 3.34 million tons.
Russia decided redirect its oil supplies to Asian markets, including India and China. Rising oil prices have also placed Russia among the top three European Union (EU) suppliers, despite sanctions. According to Eurostat, in the first half of the year, the increase in European imports from Russia amounted to 78.9%. At the same time, the physical volumes of deliveries have declined and will continue to decline after the EU embargo on Russian oil comes into force at the end of the year.
