Russia reduced investment in US government securities from $629 million to $67 million

The volume of Russia’s investments in US government bonds amounted to $67 million in January, follows from materials US Treasury. Long-term securities account for $54 million, short-term securities for $13 million.
The portfolio has shrunk by more than nine times in a month. In December, it was $629 million, in November – $2.092 billion, in October – $2.034 billion. Russia began to reduce investments in US government bonds from April 2018, when investments amounted to $96 billion.
Japan remains the largest holder of US securities. It increased investments from $1.07 trillion to $1.1 trillion. In second place is China with $859.4 billion compared to $867.1 billion in December. The UK’s third-largest portfolio grew from $654.5 billion to $668.3 billion from December to January.
