Russia received $45 billion from agricultural exports for the first time – Kommersant

Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev said at a meeting of the ministry’s operational headquarters that in 2023, revenue from exports of agricultural products exceeded $45 billion for the first time. According to the report ministriesafter clarification of the data, the amount of revenue will increase further.
The minister noted that in 2023 the grain harvest in Russia amounted to 143 million tons, and with new regions approximately 147 million tons of grain are expected. Also in 2023, milk production increased by 500 thousand tons, and meat production by 300 thousand tons.
“Fishery producers ensured the maximum catch of aquatic biological resources in 30 years—5.3 million tons. In particular, Russia became the first in the world in salmon production: the volume exceeded 600 thousand tons,” the message states.
According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture “Agroexport”, in 2022, the main supplies of Russian food were sent to China, Turkey, the EU, Kazakhstan, Belarus, South Korea, Egypt and other countries. Data on export geography for 2023 have not yet been published.
On January 18, the lower house of the US Congress adopted a bill that is designed to reduce the country’s dependence on Russian agricultural products. Agroexport has begun assessing the impact of the initiative and is collecting the positions of market participants, creating a basis for international disputes.
