Russia increased production and export of fertilizers to 2021 levels

According to Mr. Guryev, over the 11 months of 2023, the production of mineral fertilizers in Russia increased by 9% compared to the same period and amounted to 53 million tons. “Assuming the current capacity utilization of enterprises is maintained, by the end of the year we expect to reach the 2021 levels of 59 million tons. This year we expect export volumes to recover to the 2021 level,” said Andrey Guryev.

In November the government extended quotas for the export of Russian fertilizers are valid until May 2024. Restrictive measures on the industry were established in December 2022. The government said the decision was “aimed at maintaining sufficient volumes of fertilizers in the domestic market.”
