NPO Splav has patented a supersonic projectile for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). The new projectile has better aeroballistic characteristics and an increased firing range, as follows from the description of the invention to the patent, reports TASS.
“This positive effect is confirmed by flight design tests of samples of supersonic missiles made in accordance with the proposed invention,” the document states.
It is clarified that it became possible to achieve improved projectile characteristics due to the optimal ratio of the dimensions of the nose of the hull and aerodynamic control surfaces, as well as the cylindrical fairing and stabilizer blades and other design features.
