Russia became the leader in exports of petroleum products to Brazil in August

In August, Brazil increased imports of Russian petroleum products to record levels: the volume of purchases increased 2.1 times to 920 thousand tons, and their value increased to $672.8 million. These are record values for Russian exports to Brazil, according to data from Brazilian customs, which leads “RIA News”.
Exports from the United States, the second largest supplier of petroleum products to Brazil, decreased to 311.3 thousand tons, and the value decreased by 25%, to $281.2 million. The third largest country in terms of petroleum product exports to Brazil is India. In August, imports to Brazil amounted to 164.5 thousand tons worth $155.2 million. This is more than double the figures for the previous month.
Bloomberg wrote that in August Brazil decided to increase imports of Russian petroleum products by 25% compared to July, to 235 thousand barrels per day. The increase in supplies of petroleum products from Russia to Brazil began in February of this year. Then the embargo on Russian petroleum products imposed by the EU and G7 countries came into force, and a price ceiling was also established.
