RusHydro is ready to participate in hydropower projects in Myanmar

Energy holding RusHydro (MOEX: HYDR) expressed willingness to participate in hydropower projects in Myanmar. Representatives of the Russian company announced this at a meeting with a delegation from Myanmar, the press service said in a statement. “RusHydro”.

“During the negotiations, the Russian side expressed its readiness to intensify work in Myanmar in terms of providing engineering services in the field of hydropower for projects planned in the country, including Shweli-3 HPP (1,000 MW), Nam Lang HPP (210 MW) and Middle Paung HPP Laung (166 MW),” says the company’s material.

The report said that the parties agreed on a visit of the Russian delegation to Myanmar to meet with possible partner companies. Representatives of RusHydro will also visit local energy facilities and discuss further cooperation with enterprises in Myanmar.

Earlier, a Myanmar delegation led by the country’s Minister of Electricity visited the Zagorsaya PSPP in the Moscow region. As stated in the RusHydro message, the purpose of the visit is related to studying the experience of maintaining and operating the station.

In December 2022, the Ministry of Economy statedthat a Russian company could become a contractor for the construction of a hydroelectric power station on the Pawnlawn River in Myanmar. The ministry did not specify the name of the company.
