Rushimalliance LLC (a parity joint venture between Gazprom and Rusgazdobycha) filed lawsuits against the largest German banks – Deutsche Bank And Commerzbank to the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, follows from the file of the court. The agency drew attention to this. Interfax. The lawsuits are related to the statement of Rushimalliance about claims against the German chemical company Linde for €1.1 billion, sent to the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg.

The agency clarifies that the lawsuit of Rushimalliance against Deutsche Bank was registered in the amount of 22.223 billion rubles, and against Commerzbank – for 8.726 billion rubles. Applications were submitted on June 28 and 29, respectively.

Linde in July 2021 entered into a contract with a Russian company for the design, procurement and construction of a gas processing plant in the Leningrad Region, but in June 2022 suspended work due to EU sanctions. Rushimalliance reported that German guarantor banks also refuse to fulfill their obligations, the agency reports.

Rushimalliance believes that the sanctions do not cover work under the contract. “Since the work was never resumed, the applicant notified Linde of the termination of the contract on September 23, 2022,” the court told the agency. In January 2023, the court arrested Russian assets of Linde for 35 billion rubles.

On March 21, Linde announced that it was suspending “all means of developing new projects in Russia” in connection with the military operation in Ukraine. Earlier, the company withdrew from a joint project with Severstal for the production of heat exchangers for the gas industry and left the Amur GCC project of SIBUR.
