Rusal believes that Western competitors are pushing the EU towards sanctions

At Rusal (MOEX: RUAL) believe that its European and American competitors are actively pushing EU officials to impose new sanctions against Russian aluminum in order to gain a monopoly position in the market by limiting competition. Sources at Rusal told Kommersant about this.

As the publication notes Politico, restrictions against Russian aluminum may be included in the 13th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which is currently being discussed in the European Union. The EU expects to adopt a new sanctions package by February 24. The European Union expects that a reduction in aluminum production as a result of sanctions pressure may influence on the energy industry of the Russian Federation.
