Inspections by Rostransnadzor in 2022 did not reveal the use of expired spare parts on the aircraft of large Russian airlines, the supervisory service said in a response to a request from Kommersant.
On May 16, at a speech at the State Duma Transport Committee, the head of Rostransnadzor, Viktor Basargin, said that in 2022, the service had identified more than 2,000 flights during which expired spare parts and components were used on aircraft (see “Kommersant” dated May 17). At the same time, Kommersant’s interlocutors doubted that these data relate to large carriers.
“In the actions of the leading Russian air carriers, these violations were not detected,” the service stressed. The service refused to disclose data on airlines in which violations were recorded and “which eliminated shortcomings”, citing the restrictions of the law on state control.
Rostransnadzor also noted that such violations had been detected before. “The volume of traffic on aircraft with these violations is less than 0.2% of the total volume of flights served and does not go beyond the volume of violations detected in previous periods,” the service said. They assured that flight safety “is maintained at the highest level thanks to the measures taken by Rostransnadzor.”
