Rostec launched the production of body armor with protection against armor-piercing cartridges

The Tula plant “Oktava” (part of the company “RT-Capital” includes “Rostec”) launched the production of assault bulletproof vests “Obereg” of an increased protection class, informed press service of the state corporation.

“The high protective properties of bulletproof vests were confirmed by tests – the samples withstood the hit of cartridges ranging from pistol ammunition (first class of protection) to armor-piercing machine gun cartridge B32 (fifth class),” said Semyon Yakubov, CEO of RT-Capital.

The bulletproof vest, which was tested in the CBO area, is made of 1000D Cordura nylon woven material with a water-repellent impregnation with a polyurethane coating and weighs 9.1 kg. As noted in Rostec, the location of the plates made it possible to protect vital organs while maintaining mobility.

Now the enterprise is capable of producing up to 2,000 body armor per quarter, the state corporation plans to increase production to 7,500 items.

April 12, Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov informed about the multiply increased state defense order, Russian enterprises of the military-industrial complex (DIC) used all possible resources to fulfill it.

The main contractors, as well as civilian enterprises involved in the tasks of the defense industry, were able to expand their capacities and form reserves of raw materials, materials and components, Manturov noted. According to him, the output of priority products was increased simultaneously with its improvement based on the experience of the SVO.
