The Rostec State Corporation has handed over the first experimental batch of the new Drok self-propelled 82mm rapid-fire mortars to the Russian Armed Forces. The mortars will be used in the zone of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

According to the state corporation, the complex allows the military to fire without leaving the cockpit. Also among the advantages of “Drok” its creators include a high rate of fire: it is more than 10 rounds per minute, while the ammunition can hold more than 40 minutes. The development of the Drok complex was carried out by the Burevestnik Central Research Institute (TsNII), which is part of Rostec.
The complex delivered to the Russian army is designed to destroy manpower, fire weapons and lightly armored vehicles, as well as to blind observation posts and smoke illuminated areas. The mortar fires both conventional 82 mm ammunition and new mines of increased power and range. The system also includes an additional 82 mm mortar with a bipod and a base plate. It can be used by crew outside the combat vehicle.
