Rostec: exit from the market of IT provider SITA will not affect the aviation industry

The departure from the market of IT-provider in the field of aviation SITA will not affect the industry due to the transition of companies to Russian software (SW). This was stated by the representative of Rostec, writes TASS.

“The departure of SITA is a tribute to Russophobic fashion and a gesture of hopelessness. This does not affect the market in any way, since Russian carriers have been using domestic solutions for a long time, ”said the representative at the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia 2023 conference in Nizhny Novgorod.

In 2022, after the introduction of sanctions against the aviation industry against the backdrop of the start of a military operation in Ukraine, Russian companies were able to replace a number of foreign systems with domestic ones. In particular, the Leonardo system developed by Rostec and Sirena appeared, as well as TAIS, which was created by the ORS IT solutions company. According to a Rostec representative, Leonardo is used by more than 60 airlines, which have already transported more than 44 million passengers with its help.

Earlier, the agency, citing a source in one of the airlines reportedthat SITA will leave the Russian market on July 1. The source emphasized that domestic airlines and airports have already managed to replace all the services provided by the provider.

SITA started working in Russia back in 1959 – then its partner was “Aeroflot“. In 2019, the airline and the IT provider celebrated the 60th anniversary of their joint cooperation. It was engaged in the supply of air ticket booking systems, electronic boarding, baggage systems, etc. to carriers.
