Rosselkhoznadzor said that in 2023, the South American republic supplied 1.3 million tons of bananas and 723 tons of pineapples to Russia. The agency also reported that in early August it held negotiations with the Agency for Quality Control of Agricultural Products of Ecuador due to the increasing incidence of detection of “quarantine objects” in bananas and flowers supplied to the Russian Federation from the republic. Despite this, Rosselkhoznadzor continues to identify harmful organisms. The agency notifies the competent authority of Ecuador about all such cases, the press service reported.
