Rosselkhoznadzor allowed the import of hatching eggs from six Turkish enterprises

Rosselkhoznadzor has opened supplies of hatching eggs from six Turkish enterprises, reported press service departments. The enterprises are located in areas free from bird flu, Rosselkhoznadzor added.
“The decision was made in connection with the existing need for hatching eggs on the part of Russian participants in foreign economic activity, as well as taking into account the guarantees provided by the Turkish side on the compliance of these products with the veterinary and sanitary requirements of Russia and the EAEU,” says the service’s press release. Rosselkhoznadzor reported that it reserved the right to conduct inspections at Turkish enterprises.
According to register, posted on the Rosselkhoznadzor website, the service now allows the supply of hatching eggs from a total of 32 Turkish enterprises. The import of edible eggs and their processed products is allowed from 18 Turkish enterprises.
In November, retail egg prices increased sharply. In December, eggs became one of the most expensive products: their price rose by 10–20% in 46 regions of the Russian Federation. On December 14, during the “Results of the Year”, Russian President Vladimir Putin explainedthat the demand for eggs exceeded supply, and imports were not opened on time in the required volume.
On December 18, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission zeroed out duties on imports of chicken eggs to Russia from January 1 to June 30, 2024. The benefit will apply to the supply of 1.2 billion eggs. On December 19 and 23, batches of chicken eggs from Azerbaijan were delivered to Russia. Also expected supply of eggs from Turkey. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko excluded risk of egg shortage in Russia.
