Rospotrebnadzor has suspended the sale of certain batches of Jermuk brand mineral water for safety testing. Yesterday, February 12, a resident of Vladikavkaz suffered burns to the esophagus after drinking this mineral water.
The sale of products packaged in 0.5 liter glass containers and imported into the Russian Federation during the period from December 28, 2023 to February 12, 2024 has been suspended. It is clarified that the production date of the bottles is December 28, 2023.
“Additional notifications have been sent to the personal accounts of companies whose balance sheets include these products. The measures taken will allow us to quickly reduce the risks of purchasing a potentially dangerous product,” Rospotrebnadzor assured (quoted by TASS).
The head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, announced the poisoning of a man with mineral water the day before. According to him, instead of water, the closed bottle contained vinegar. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor’s office were involved in clarifying the circumstances.
“24 packages of Jermuk water have already been confiscated… I also appeal to the residents of the republic: until all the circumstances are clarified, do not consume Jermuk brand products,” Mr. Meinyalo wrote in Telegram.
