Rosoboronexport has supplied $5.4 billion worth of weapons to foreign buyers this year, and it is planned to supply weapons worth the same amount by the end of the year, said Alexander Mikheev, head of the state-owned company.

“I responsibly declare that Rosoboronexport fulfills its obligations under the contracts being executed this year. To date, we have shipped equipment to our partners worth more than $5.4 billion. By the end of the year, we plan to ship approximately the same amount in accordance with the approved plan,” he said (quote by Interfax).

He also noted that Russia is now continuing to sign new contracts for the supply of weapons. At the moment, the order book is $52.9 billion. According to him, the demand for Russian equipment “continues to be stable”, despite the conduct of a special military operation in Ukraine and Western sanctions.

Mikheev addedthat Russia has moved away from payments through SWIFT, as well as euros and dollars as part of the calculation for military-technical cooperation (MTC). According to him, Russia now has a more flexible settlement system, which is implemented using the mechanisms of partner banks and a closed currency scheme. “Today we are working with Indian rupees, Chinese yuan, we are working with rubles,” he said.

Despite this, Russia, according to him, is under strong pressure from Western countries. “It comes to the point of absurdity – they do not allow our ships to enter ports, carry out docking, escort, port services,” said the head of Rosoboronexport. He believes that the military-technical cooperation system is now being tested for strength.

Formerly CEO of Rostec (which includes Rosoboronexport) Sergey Chemezov reportedthat Rosoboronexport’s portfolio of orders is about 3 trillion rubles, since the beginning of the year new export contracts have been signed for 1 trillion rubles. He clarified that 40% of the sum of all contracts falls on aviation, 30% – on air defense (air defense), the rest – on the equipment of the ground forces and the navy.
