Roskoshestvo discovered Staphylococcus aureus in shawarma from Auchan – Kommersant

Roskachestvo conducted a study of shawarma, which is sold in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Staphylococcus aureus was found in one of the 29 samples examined, infection with which can be fatal. The bacteria was found in shawarma from Auchan, they reported TASS in Roskachestvo.
The reason for the appearance of staphylococcus in shawarma may be spoiled sauce, however, most likely, the bacterium got into the shawarma from an infected employee, according to Roskoshestvo.
The agency also stated that listeria was detected in shawarma from Auchan and Chef Doner. Roskachestvo warned that consuming products with listeria or staphylococcus can lead to the development of toxoinfection or listeriosis.
Roskachestvo specialists also found E. coli in 15 samples tested. We are talking about shawarma of the brands Ozon fresh, Restoria, “Vkusvill”, Dostaevsky, “Miratorg”, “Globus”, “The most delicious shawarma”, Chef Doner, “Good eat”, “Cafe kebab”, “Shaverland”, “Shaverno” “, “I’m spinning”, “Simply Vasya” and “Super kebab”.
According to Roskachestvo, violations of sanitary and epidemiological microbiology standards were found in 27 brands of shawarma. No violations were found in this indicator in only two samples, TASS reports.
According to the department, the information obtained as a result of the study was sent to the supervisory authorities. Spar, Lenta, Auchan and Pyaterochka conducted internal investigations and corrective actions and then submitted applications for re-testing. Ozon also took corrective measures and changed product manufacturing technology.
Manufacturers of shawarma under the brands Vasilchuki, Show’rma, Vkusvill, Timsi, Miratorg, Dobrye Eat, Shaverno, Kruchu Verchu also reported inspections and additional control. In addition, shawarma manufacturers under the brands “Show’rma”, “Vkusvill”, “Dostaevsky”, “Miratorg”, “Dobrye eat”, and “Globus” submitted applications for repeated studies of their products.
