The press service of Roskomnadzor (RKN) reported that the agency will check the information about the leakage of personal data of Sportmaster customers. At the same time, the RKN did not receive notification of a leak from the company.
“In accordance with the legislation on personal data, the operator must notify Roskomnadzor within a day from the moment of such an incident. As of 15:00 on January 1, 2023, no such notification was received by the department,” “RIA News” in the department’s press office. If necessary, Roskomnadzor intends to conduct an unscheduled audit of the company.
The day before, on December 31, information began to spread in Telegram channels that the data of Sportmaster buyers had appeared on the network. It was reported that phone numbers, e-mail and names of hundreds of thousands of customers got into the public domain.
From September 1, 2022, changes were made to the law “On Personal Data”. According to the adopted amendments, the operator who leaked personal data is obliged to inform Roskomnadzor about it within 24 hours. Within 72 hours, it is necessary to provide the department with the results of the company’s internal investigation, the results of which identify the causes of the leak.
