Service for distribution of music and podcasts SoundCloud is blocked in Russia. Roskomnadzor made the decision after receiving a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office dated September 22.
The agency believes that the service violated Article 15.3 of the Law “On Information”, which regulates the restriction of access to information with calls for riots, participation in unauthorized actions, extremism, as well as blocking inaccurate socially significant information.
Roskomnadzor’s universal service for checking blocking indicates that access to the soundcloud.com page is restricted. Blocking one page with the https network protocol can lead to the unavailability of the entire site in Russia.
The SoundCloud service is used to distribute music, podcasts and other audio information. It has social networking features. The service has been operating since 2008, the owner company is registered in Berlin.
