The perimeter of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was shelled, said Renat Karchaa, adviser to the general director of Rosenergoatom. According to him, from 17:15 to 17:41, 12 blows were dealt. The last time the station’s perimeter was shelled was at the end of September.
“We are talking about the perimeter of the station itself, and not about the industrial zone. Six arrivals were in the spray pool, this is the cooling system. Two arrivals were in the square of the dry storage of nuclear waste. And there were three more arrivals in the area of checkpoint-2,” said Mr. Karchaa “Russia 24”. According to him, no one was hurt, there was no damage.
ZNPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Russia took control of it at the end of February, at the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine. In early October, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the transfer of the Zaporizhzhya NPP to Russian jurisdiction. The plant is managed by JSC “Operating Organization of Zaporozhye NPP”, the founder of the company is Rosenergoatom, a subsidiary of Rosatom.
