Rosbank filed a claim against ING Bank and its subsidiaries for 1.88 billion rubles – Kommersant

Rosbank filed a claim in the Moscow Arbitration Court against the Dutch bank ING Bank, as well as its branch in London (ING Bank NV, London Branch) and the Russian subsidiary (ING Bank Eurasia) for the recovery of 1.88 billion rubles, it follows from card indexes arbitration cases. The lawsuit was filed today, February 26, and has not yet been accepted for proceedings. Sovcombank is named as a third party in the lawsuit.

Last December, the Moscow Arbitration Court satisfied Rosbank’s claim against ING Bank and its London branch for joint and several recovery of 24.9 million rubles. losses due to failure to fulfill obligations under the loan agreement concluded on December 21, 2021. Sovcombank was also involved in the case as a third party.

According to the court decision, as part of the loan agreement, Sovcombank borrowed $50 million from Rosbank. The London branch of ING Bank acted as the lending agent. In February 2022, Sovcombank came under sanctions and lost the ability to fulfill obligations in dollars. The financial organization notified ING Bank about the opening of a type “C” account in the Russian Federation for the transfer of funds in favor of creditors, but the counterparty did not respond to the letter and did not transfer the interest due to Rosbank, the Arbitration Court decision says. The defendants ignored the court hearings.
