Rosatom exceeded its uranium production plan by 90 tons in 2023, reported “RIA News” press service of the mining division of the state corporation Atomredmetzoloto (ARMZ). ARMZ Executive Director Viktor Svyatetsky, during a discussion of the main results of the company’s activities in 2023, clarified that the plan was exceeded by 3%.
The state corporation has not yet disclosed specific volumes of uranium production in 2023. For 2022, according to (.pdf) according to the Rosatom report, ARMZ produced 2508 tons of uranium (14% of world production). In 2022, Rosatom in terms of uranium production volumes in the world was second only to Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom (23%).
As of January 11, the price of uranium oxide (U3O8) on the spot market reached $94.4 per pound, according to data from the Numerco agency. The indicator has been growing almost non-stop since March 2023. By December 2023, the average monthly spot price for uranium had increased by about 1.8 times compared to January, reaching $91 per pound.
