Reuters: Russia boosts diesel exports by 12% in March

Russian exports of diesel fuel in March amounted to about 4.5 million tons per day, up 12% compared to February, Reuters reports citing Refinitiv. According to him, in March, Turkey was the main destination for the supply of diesel fuel and gas oil, shipments to which almost doubled, to 1.6 million tons. In total, in March, Russia shipped about 300 thousand tons of diesel fuel from its ports to Brazil, almost the same amount in the direction of the large trade hub Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Shipments to Saudi Arabia decreased by 86.3%, from 485,000 tons in February to 66,000 tons in March, but traders do not exclude deliveries in this direction through ship-to-ship transshipment , STS).
About 1 million more tons of diesel fuel were shipped to African countries, including Libya, Tunisia, Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Senegal and Morocco. Approximately 0.7 million tons shipped in March do not yet have a final destination or are heading in the direction of STS transshipments. About 2.5 million tons are on their way to their destination, and some of the volumes may change the direction of delivery, Reuters specifies.
Russia had to look for new ways to supply fuel against the background of the price ceiling introduced on February 5 by the G7 countries, the European Union (EU) and Australia for Russian oil products transported by sea. For oil products traded at a premium to oil (gasolines and gasoline blends, gas oils, diesel fuel and aviation kerosene), the price ceiling is $100 per barrel, and for those traded at a discount (naphtha, various fuel oils and oils, as well as waste oil products) – $45 per barrel. In 2022, Russia accounted for 9.3% of global oil product shipments. The EU expects that the consequences of sanctions for the Russian economy should be tangible.
