The restriction for aircraft of the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) on flights abroad will not affect the operation of international flights, the press service of the Ministry of Transport reported. New contracts are expected to be concluded in the near future to “level out all possible legal risks,” the department said. The planes subject to restrictions account for approximately 5% of the entire aircraft fleet, the ministry added.

“Carriers have at their disposal foreign-made aircraft that are owned both by other leasing companies and by the airlines themselves. Currently, these aircraft can be used to operate relevant international flights,” the ministry said in a statement.

State Transport Leasing Company, as added by the Ministry of Transport, sent airlines long-term leasing agreements with a Russian legal entity (State Transport Leasing Company JSC). They confirm ownership of all aircraft. The State Transport Leasing Company representative also said that air carriers were warned about the risks of using aircraft abroad and were offered to enter into contracts with a Russian legal entity.

Earlier it became known that Russian airlines got a telegram from the Federal Air Transport Agency with a recommendation not to fly to other countries on GTLK aircraft due to the risks of their arrest. Publication source RBC said that the Ministry of Transport should hold a meeting on this issue.
