From December 1, 2023, tariffs for passenger travel in general (with seats) and reserved seat carriages of long-distance trains will be indexed by 10.75%, follows from the forecast (.pdf) socio-economic development of the Ministry of Economy for 2024–2026.
According to the ministry’s forecast, from December 1, tariffs for the transportation of goods by rail will also increase by 7.6%.
On January 1, 2023, tariffs for passenger transportation in reserved seat and general carriages were indexed by 8.1%. Tariffs for rail transportation in the freight sector increased by 8% on January 1.
Earlier, Russian Railways explained that the indexation of tariffs affects the carriages of the following carriers: JSC FPC, Sakhalin, Railways of Yakutia and Grand Service Express.
FAS annually sets tariffs for passenger rail transportation in reserved seats and general carriages. In luxury, sleeping cars and compartments, the ticket price is set dynamically, depending on the season, day of the week, demand and the number of seats sold.
