The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has begun repairing power unit No. 1, it is reported in Telegram channel stations. Among other things, it is planned to repair all diesel generators and safety equipment that ensures the unit is maintained in a safe condition.

“Annual preventive work will be carried out one by one at all six power units and general station facilities. There are enough personnel and spare parts to carry out the entire planned volume of work at Zaporozhye NPP,” said Director of Zaporozhye NPP Yuriy Chernichuk. The work is being carried out by specialists from the station and Atomenergoremont.

On February 20, Zaporozhye NPP was disabled from the last standby external power line due to a fault. According to the IAEA, frequent power outages at the plant raise concerns regarding nuclear safety – since August 2022, there have been eight accidents at the Zaporozhye NPP.

Since October 2022, Zaporozhye NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, has been under the control of Rosenergoatom JSC (a subsidiary of Rosatom). Zaporizhia NPP is located near Energodar, Zaporozhye region and consists of six power units. Before the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the station was supplied by four 750 kV lines and six 330 kV lines. According to the IAEA, the Zaporozhye NPP currently receives electricity from a single 750 kV line.
