Today, September 1, the British company Reckitt Benckiser, which produces goods for hygiene, health and food, announcedthat its CEO Lakshman Narasimhan is stepping down on September 30th. It is reported that “for family and personal reasons, Mr. Narasimhan decided to leave for the United States, where he found an occupation that allowed him to live there.” Non-executive board member Nicandro Durante, who previously headed British American Tobacco, will serve as interim CEO. The Board of Directors of Reckitt Benckiser has already begun searching for the best candidates for the post of CEO.
The announcement of Mr. Narasimhan’s resignation was rather unexpected – he took over as CEO of Reckitt Benckiser about three years ago, launching large-scale reforms in the company. Shares of Reckitt Benckiser fell 4% after the news of the resignation broke. Jefferies investment bank analyst Martin Deboux said FTthat “Narasimhan’s reform plan has received a good response, so we expect his departure may cause concern among the company’s shareholders.”
