RBC: the structure of the leader of the “New People” Nechaev interested in a share in “Yandex”

A structure associated with the leader of the New People faction in the State Duma Alexei Nechaev is interested in buying a share of the Russian business of Yandex, informed RBC citing a source familiar with the negotiations.

According to the publication, the co-owner of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov and the owner of Kismet Capital Group Ivan Tavrin may also enter the pool of investors. Another source said that participation in the transaction of the non-state pension fund Gazfond is being considered. In “Yandex” RBC replied that “they do not comment on rumors.”

Part of the businesses, including autonomous cars, cloud technologies, etc., will continue to operate in Russia, but their international parts will be separated into independent companies managed by a company in the Netherlands. Yandex NV will eventually withdraw from the shareholders and change its name.

On May 23, it became known that it could buy a stake in Yandex VTB, Andrey Kostin, chairman of the board of the bank, reported that the deal could be closed before the end of the year. In addition to VTB, buyers of a controlling stake could become head of Interros Vladimir Potanin and Alekperov.

On SPIEF Kostin told journalists that investors are offered to buy Yandex without the 50% discount provided. According to him, it is not worth making a deal on such conditions. The VTB Board of Directors proposed to act according to the Fortum scheme: to take the company into management and return it to the owners after the sanctions expire.
