RBC: the government allowed the sale of VimpelCom to Russian management

The government commission approved the sale of Vimpelcom by Veon holding to Russian top management. Writes about it RBC with reference to a source close to the participants in the transaction, the amount of which is not specified.
An official familiar with the course of the discussion also informed the publication about the agreement of the deal. According to him, comments were taken into account that all bondholders should receive equal conditions.
At the end of November 2022, the top management of the Russian VimpelCom, headed by Alexander Torbakhov agreed on the purchase of an asset from the Dutch holding Veon in exchange for repayment of its debt. Later, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and the Bank of Russia opposed the deal. The scheme did not suit the holders of Veon Eurobonds, who have already tried to suspend the process through the courts.
