RBC: the Board of Directors of Norilsk Nickel discussed the reduction of dividends to $1.5 billion

On December 15, the Board of Directors of Norilsk Nickel discussed the company’s budget for 2023. During the meeting, the company’s management proposed to reduce dividends to $1.5 billion. In 2021, they amounted to $6.3 billion (60% of EBITDA).
According to three interlocutors of RBC, close to the board of directors of Norilsk Nickel, the management explained the need to reduce dividends with a large investment program, other shareholders did not object.
The company’s dividend policy provides for the payment of dividends to shareholders in the amount of at least 30% of EBITDA. Based on forecasts, shareholders could expect to pay $2.7-3 billion.
