RBC learned about the shortage of spark plugs from the USA from companies flying Superjet

Operators of regional jets Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) faced a shortage of spark plugs for Russian-French SaM146 engines from the United States after the imposition of sanctions. About it informs RBC citing sources in the six airlines flying these aircraft.

In particular, Vladimir Panfilov, First Deputy Director General of IrAero, sent a letter to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on February 16, in which he warns of the risks of non-fulfillment of flight programs in the absence of these details. At the same time, the general director of the airline, Yuri Lapin, said that now there are still several spare parts, “so we are not reducing the intensity of flights.”

According to the Aviatorshchina Telegram channel, the Rossiya airline, which is part of the Rossiya group, also faced a shortage.Aeroflot”, which is considered the largest operator of the SSJ100. It is specified that in the spring-summer schedule, Rossiya will fly only 30 out of 76 aircraft.

The first flight on the SSJ100 took place in 2008. The aircraft is equipped with engines from a joint venture between the French Safran and the Russian United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of the Rostec Group of Companies) – SaM146. The UEC reported that they expect the result of work on the creation of an analogue of the American spark plug as early as 2023.
