MTS Bank stopped converting dollars for business

MTS-Bank faced difficulties converting dollars after it fell under US blocking sanctions. The Bank temporarily stopped conversion operations in dollars for legal entities. This was reported RBC with reference to a representative of companies and clients.
One of the clients of MTS-Bank said that he could not convert dollars into rubles since February 28. The bank’s technical support explained to him that due to US blocking sanctions, foreign correspondent banks stopped online relationships for settlements in dollars.
As a representative of MTS-Bank explained to RBC, problems with the conversion of dollars affected only legal entities. He added that the bank is working on a solution to the problem. The interlocutor of RBC noted that the bank is still converting from euros for legal entities and individuals, with dollars – for individuals.
The US Treasury added a number of Russian banks, including MTS Bank, to the SDN list on February 24. The restrictions imply the blocking of all assets of the bank in the United States, the suspension of operations with dollars, and companies cooperating with it also risk falling under secondary sanctions.
