RBC learned about the plans of the logistics partner McDonald’s to leave Russia

Havi Logistics, which specializes in food logistics, plans to transfer its Russian business, it has already started looking for a buyer. About it informs RBC citing a source familiar with the negotiations.

Another interlocutor of the publication clarified that the transfer of assets to Russian management is also one of the options for localizing Havi Logistics business in the country. Possible buyers of the corporation’s assets in Russia are not specified.

According to RBC, the logistics company is known for its cooperation with the McDonald’s fast food restaurant chain. It is clarified that the services of Havi Logistics are not limited to supplying restaurants with food. The company is also responsible for supply and demand planning, marketing and business intelligence services, and packaging services.

Havi Logistics was founded by Ted Perlman and Bob Rock in 1976. Since that time, the corporation has been cooperating with McDonald’s. The company currently provides its services in 45 countries.

In Russia, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Havi Logistics was represented by Rulog LLC, founded in 2003. The general director of the Russian legal entity of the company is a Russian citizen Christian Novak. In addition to McDonald’s, the company also collaborated with IKEA and companies in the energy and oil and gas sectors – British Petroleum (BP), Equinor (formerly Statoil), OMV.

The executive director of Rusprodsoyuz, Dmitry Vostrikov, noted that the Russian business of Havi should be most interested in Vkusno – and that’s the point as a support structure. The chain of fast food restaurants told RBC that the company continues to work with Rulog.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, a number of the world’s largest companies announced their withdrawal from the Russian market. In particular, McDonald’s closed restaurants in Russia on March 14, and on May 16 announced its final withdrawal from Russia. As a result, the Russian business “McDonald’s” was sold to the local licensee Alexander Govor and received the name “Tasty – and that’s it.” The company reserved the opportunity to buy back the business within 15 years, Govor said in an interview with Vedomosti.

IKEA also left Russia. On March 4, the company temporarily closed its stores in Russia. Already in mid-June, it became known that IKEA was looking for buyers for its four factories in Russia. Before the final closure in the country, IKEA held a sale. It ended on August 15, after which the stores of the network worked only for the issuance of completed orders, as well as for the return and exchange of goods.
