Former head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov may move to the position of adviser to Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov, reported RBC with reference to sources.

The publication’s interlocutors clarify that Rakhmanov’s functionality and area of responsibility have not yet been determined.

Rakhmanov was the head of USC from 2014 to 2023, leaving his post after the corporation was transferred to the bank VTB in August. The place of head of USC was taken by the former first deputy chairman of VTB Andrey Puchkov.

In 2019, Vedomosti wrote that the Russian Ministry of Defense opposed the extension of his powers; they were not satisfied with the pace of repair, modernization and production of the ordered shipbuilding equipment.

USC was founded in 2007. The corporation is the largest shipbuilding holding in Russia, providing 80% of the domestic shipbuilding volume. It includes about 40 organizations, including design bureaus, research centers, shipyards, ship repair and engineering enterprises.
