Paymond Pauls spoke about criticism of Pugacheva’s song “A Million Scarlet Roses”
People’s Artist of Russia Alla Pugacheva criticized the music and lyrics of the song “A Million Scarlet Roses.” Composer Raymond Pauls made this recognition in a conversation with the publication aif.ru.
According to him, the Prima Donna was very dissatisfied with the work and scolded the composer for “primitive music” and demanded that “her own changes be made.” Paulus said that he went to meet the star, trusting her performing instincts.
“Alla is a creative person,” Pauls explained.
He also said that Pugacheva was very surprised that the song “A Million Scarlet Roses” was a great success not only in the USSR, but also abroad, especially in Japan.
“There (in Japan – editor’s note) something unimaginable was happening, they loved this song so much. Alla didn’t understand what was wrong with this song,” Paulus said.
The singer also expressed her words of dissatisfaction to the poet Andrei Voznesensky, who put into the work the legend of the Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani and the French actress Margarita de Sèvres.
Earlier, Raymond Pauls spoke about the “romance” with Pugacheova. Judging by the pianist’s words, he does not deny that there really was a certain connection, but he does not consider it necessary to refer to the events of 40 years ago.
