Railway communication between Russia and Tajikistan resumed

Russia and Tajikistan have resumed railway communication interrupted due to the pandemic. According to the State Unitary Enterprise “Rohi ohani Tojikiston” (railroads of Tajikistan), the first passenger train in the last two years left Tajik Kulyab for Volgograd on Tuesday night.
“The train left Kulyab on August 16 at 0:10, its arrival in the Russian city of Volgograd is scheduled for Friday, August 19,” the organization said (quote from “Interfax”).
It is also reported that two more trains are scheduled for August 27 and September 7 to Volgograd – from Dushanbe and Khujand.
The fact that trains will start running from August 16, Russian Railways informed at the end of July. The company noted that the train will depart weekly “from st. Kulyab on Tuesdays and from st. Volgograd on Fridays. In addition, it was reported that from August 27, flights on the Dushanbe-Volgograd route will resume.
Railway communication between Russia and Tajikistan was temporarily suspended in March 2020 due to the spread of COVID-19. Russia in July canceled restrictions on crossing land borders.
