IKEA began the liquidation of the Russian subsidiary “Ikea Dom”

IKEA has launched the process of liquidating the legal entity Ikea Dom, which operates a retail network in Russia, Vedomosti found out. The corresponding application was submitted for registration in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (EGRLE).

“We have an orderly shutdown process in place and are currently reviewing requests received. We do not comment on ongoing negotiations,” the press service of Ingka Centers told Vedomosti.

Claims of creditors to the company can be declared within 2 months, according to a message published on the Federal resource.

As Vedomosti previously wrote, in June, Ikea began to terminate the lease agreements in the shopping center ahead of schedule. One of the sources said that “almost all” shopping centers where the Swedish brand is present have received such letters. We are talking about unilateral termination, which means large fines for IKEA. At the same time, the press service of Ingka Centers reported that Mega shopping centers would continue to work. Now the representative of the company refused to comment on their future fate. At the moment, the legal entity that is responsible for the operation of the Mega shopping centers is listed as valid in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.

On March 4, IKEA temporarily suspended the work of its stores in Russia amid a special operation in Ukraine and due to logistical problems. In mid-June, it became known that the company was looking for buyers for its four factories in Russia in the Leningrad, Novgorod and Kirov regions, as well as reducing staff and selling off the rest of the goods. IKEA productions were previously interested in “AFK Sistema”, however, no agreements have been reached with this or any other potential buyer yet.

The sale for employees took place at the end of June in the stores of the network, and on July 5, an online sale for customers started. Customers have repeatedly complained about site failures. Difficulties arose due to the large number of people who wanted to buy IKEA products. To solve the problem, the company limited the number of people who can be on the site and make purchases at the same time, and introduced an online queue. The day before, August 15, the online sale was completed. The retailer promised to deliver all completed orders by the end of September.

In 2021, the turnover of the Russian “daughter” amounted to 157.2 billion rubles, and net profit – 7.7 billion rubles, follows from the data of SPARK-Interfax. In total, IKEA has 26 stores and studios in 12 cities of Russia, all of which suspended work on March 4 after the start of a special operation in Ukraine.
